All 3 runways at Brussels Airport were renovated in 2015, 2016 and 2020 on time and within budget with minimal operational impact. The renovation of these critical assets ensured they could be operated safely in the future. Obviously, each renovation had a significant impact on the airport’s operations so a close collaboration with the impacted stakeholders was crucial for the final delivery of the project.
In total, almost 800,000m² asphalt was milled and newly placed together with over 1,000km of cabling and 6,000 airfield lighting beacons.
